First Impression; Childish, Bubbly, Warm Behaviors; It is said that some people put walls upon their hearts and around their minds, Gretchen very much does this. Letting people in is something she isn't capable of - often trying but failing miserably. She is somewhat unaware of how cut off she can be mostly because she is friendly and kind, listens to all and isn't afraid to converse with people. However, she isn't necessarily open about her feelings and thoughts.
Most think or assume they truly know her however since she barley knows herself, this isn't possible. Only one in a great while does someone get in and normally when it happens, its because she has fallen in love if she knows it or not. History; Born and raised in the sunny city of San Francisco, California, Gretchen has lived a life that isn't too different from any others. True she was only allowed to speak English when friends we're over or when she was at school, and it is true that she was directed to take Latin classes along with ballet classes and piano classes the whole time growing up - but on a whole, ignoring the very intellectually driven house hold she grew up in, she was just like everyone else. Well... at least she was due to her best friends. They kept her common and grounded, something she is grateful for though her parents aren't.
The story of her friends indeed begins from a young age. Living on a street with few children, Gretchen found only three other people her age, each of them of course being male. Though at first they complained about her tagging along when they played sports or dug holes or collected bugs, by the age of six the boys found themselves more upset if she didn't want to. From throwing stones at her window to wake her up to go to their sleep overs to scaring off her tutors so she could come out and play, whatever the three boys did, Gretchen had no choice but to follow... not that she objected ever.
And that was life. Though years came and gone, one thing was always consistent, her and her boys. From middle school to high school, from first kisses to dating to whatever else you can imagine. Gretchen was always with her guys. Which of course was interesting the most in high school when they all began to date people. At first their were tensions, Gretchen finding herself insanely jealous every time a guy blew her off for his girlfriend at first, however that eventually died out when she found guys herself. They all found their own outlets, be it sports, cars, music, or the opposite sex, each of them found their own niche in life which has worked well for them.
Graduation eventually came and the group has grown apart some. Sure they speak on a nearly daily bases, make plans to see each other at least twice a week, and half the time crash at each others places, but things have indeed changed. Perhaps it was college that brought these changes about, causing them to declare a little independence from each other. Or maybe it's just how life works, you grow up and drift apart slightly. Either way though, things are still well.
Currently Gretchen's life is up in the air. While she has her own business with her college roommate Daniella, she also is continuing the long trend of on and off with her high school sweet heart, Scott. She is currently living with Lucas, even if he is hardly around due to work. As for Hunter, since a one night stand that they refuse to talk about, the two have been distant... which is of course putting a strain on their friendship. Not everything is perfect, but she is sure time will make life work out right... cause time is all she has now.
UPDATE; After college Gretchen started an interior decorating firm with her college roommate Daniella. Since then Daniella has left the firm, Gretchen sold it off to a rather large corporation, and she now is sitting pretty on the board of directors of that rather huge design firm as she also does some interior work.
She lived with Lucas for several years however after a messy affair between her, him, and Scott.... she felt it was only best to eventually move out and on her own. So she at first lived in a studio apartment in the middle of no where. Since then and with the success of her business she has traded up. She owns a nice industrial loft which she is currently renovating into her dream apartment in the warehouse district.
As for her belief about love and relationships, little to nothing has changed over the years. Though Gretchen has been in counseling for a little over two years now and recognizes that relationships stand for the end of independence and options to her, that still doesn't change much. She enjoys flirting but tends to stay away from one night stands now. She instead focuses her time on repairing her old friendships, fixing her apartment, and also trying to learn a fifth language.
